Priorities for District 31:
I. Rising Costs: Gas, Groceries & Utilities
As corporations rake-in record profits, families are struggling to keep up with the cost of basic necessities. We aren’t asking for hand-outs but we need leaders who will make sure working families aren’t choosing between paying their bills and putting food on the table.
Utilities have jumped by 30%. Our children can’t afford to live where they grew up. The cost to drive is outrageous. You deserve someone who takes these issues seriously.
I will work to stop price gouging by supporting laws to prohibit surveillance and surge pricing that take advantage of customers.
I will explore public transportation and private solutions to reduce costs and shorten commute times.
I will focus on the shortage of available, affordable homes for smaller households – from young families to empty nesters.
II. Infrastructure
Rural communities have been overlooked by the state when it comes to repairing, replacing and expanding our network of roads and bridges. We need a leader who will proactively work to address these critical routes before they fail.
I will ensure the funding for the Fairfax Bridge is secured and bring good union wages to the local workers who build the replacement.
I will work with regional cities to inventory critical routes and make sure we prevent bridge failures and road closures that hurt families and businesses.
I will bring home funding for flood mitigation solutions to protect our communities.
Our infrastructure must match our growth. We need to be able to commute safely and easily across the region and ensure we preserve the beauty and convenience that drew us to these communities.
III. Education
As a local Mom and champion for public education, I will work tirelessly to improve every aspect of our schools when im elected.
Will work to change our broken funding model when elected. Unfunded regulations are hurting our local schools, we need to have a realistic funding model to get our kids the best education.
I know how important good meals and nutrition are for our kids. I will fight to expand the free school meals program to all schools.
